Samburu National Reserve is a small protected natural area in Kenya. Located in central Kenya, north of the Ewaso Ng’iro River, and includes the Koitogor and Ololokwe Mountains. It covers an area of 168 km². FOrms a system with three adjacent parks: Buffalo Springs National Reserve, Laikipia, and Shaba National Reserve. Ol Pejeta Conservancy is a 360 km2 (140 sq mi) non-profit nature reserve in Laikipia County, central Kenya. Situated on the equator west of Nanyuki, between the Aberdares foothills and Mount Kenya. Ol Pejeta Conservancy works to conserve wildlife, provide a sanctuary for great apes, and generate income through wildlife tourism and complementary enterprises to reinvest in conservation and community development.

The Aberdare Ranges is a 160 km long mountain range in the highlands north of Kenya’s capital Nairobi with an average elevation of 3350 metres. It lies just south of the equator. It forms a section of the eastern rim of the Great Rift Valley running from the Kinangop Plateau, to the Laikipia Escarpment, In the east the range drops sharply into the Great Rift Valley. The Aberdare Ranges are heavily forested. Enjoying a private Kenya Safari in this region is an unparalleled experience. The region is well known as the headquarters of Dedan Kimathi, leader of the Mau Mau rebellion of the 1950s. Itinerary:
- Day 1: Pick up from the airport and transfer to your Nairobi hotel, Lotos Inn and Suites or similar.
- Day 2: Pick up from your hotel at 7:00am and depart for Samburu, arriving in time for check-in and lunch. Wild and rugged Samburu is fiercely beautiful with its arid savannahs watered by the beautiful Easo Nyiro River. Dinner and overnight at Samburu Simba Lodge (lunch and dinner)
- Day 3: Full day exploring Samburu with a morning and afternoon game drive. The reserve is home to a population of close to 900 elephants. Large predators such as lions, cheetahs and leopards are also found here. Wild dog sightings are common in this unique reserve. All meals and overnight at Samburu Simba Lodge (breakfast, lunch and dinner)
- Day 4: After breakfast, depart for Olpejeta for check-in and lunch. Get some rest and then take an afternoon game drive until sunset. This is a private reserve nestled between the foothills of the Aberdares and the magnificent snow-capped Mount Kenya. Ol Pejeta Game Reserve boasts an astonishing array of animals including the ‘Big Five’ (the endangered black and white rhino, leopard, elephant, buffalo and lion), Grevy’s zebra, Jackson’s hartebeest, cheetah and chimpanzee. Dinner and overnight at Serena Sweetwaters Camp (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
- Day 5: After breakfast, drive to Aberdares and arrive for lunch. In the afternoon we transfer to Treetops Lodge where you will spend the afternoon and evening wildlife watching as animals visit the waterhole next to the lodge and feed at the nearby salt pond. Dinner and overnight at Treetops Lodge (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
- Day 6: Early morning game drive and after breakfast transfer to Nairobi or the airport.
