Aberdares National Park

The Aberdare Ranges is a 160 km long mountain range in the highlands north of Kenya’s capital Nairobi with an average elevation of 3350 metres. It lies just south of the equator. It forms a section of the eastern rim of the Great Rift Valley running from the Kinangop Plateau, to the Laikipia Escarpment, In the east the range drops sharply into the Great Rift Valley. The Aberdare Ranges are heavily forested. Enjoying a Kenya Photo Safari in this region is an incomparable experience. The region is well known as the headquarters of Dedan Kimathi, leader of the Mau Mau rebellion of the 1950s. Queen Elizabeth became Queen of the United Kingdom while on holiday in the Aberdare Ranges.

  • Day 1: Pick up from the airport and transfer to Nairobi hotel, Lotos Inn and Suites or similar.
  • Day 2: Pick up from Nairobi and transfer to Aberdares for lunch. Dinner and overnight at Treetops Lodge (lunch, dinner)
  • Day 3: After breakfast, depart for Lake Nakuru for lunch. Afternoon game drive until sunset. Lake Nakuru National Park is ideal for bird watching. Dinner and overnight at Lake Nakuru Lodge (breakfast, lunch and dinner)
  • Day 4: After breakfast, depart for Masai Mara for lunch. In the afternoon, game drive until sunset. This is Kenya’s number one park. Dinner and overnight at Mara Simba Lodge (breakfast, lunch and dinner)
  • Day 5: After breakfast, depart for full-day game drives with packed lunch and return to your lodge in the afternoon. Overnight at Mara Simba Lodge (breakfast, lunch and dinner)
  • Day 6: Full day in Mara with morning and afternoon game drives. Masai Mara Game Reserve. All meals and overnight at Mara Simba Lodge (breakfast, lunch and dinner)
  • Day 7: After breakfast, depart with packed lunch to Nairobi where your safari ends.
